I once heard that the “heart of rock ‘n’ roll” was in Cleveland. But it’s not. It’s actually in Anaheim. OC’s newest museum, Muzeo, is currently exhibiting “Color of Rock,” a gallery of rock stars, featuring the paintings of Philip Burke. Thirty three of the most iconic music legends in the world are in canvas form, in full color works of art.
Each caricature style painting captures the essence of each artist’s personality, in color, texture and minimalist brush strokes. Every color chosen by Philip Burke perfectly captures the mood and the most riveting details that each of these rockstar personalities offers. With amazing attention to detail, Burke perfectly captures everything from the thick black dreadlocks of Bob Marley to the rotund lips of Steven Tyler. The painted icons of rock seem to leap straight off the canvas. They have perfectly rendered attitudes and facial expressions which seem to tell a story. It’s like they are standing right in front of you on stage!
From Orange County’s own Gwen Stefani to Eric Clapton, this who’s who of rock ‘n’ roll has a distinct style and sets Burke apart from other contemporary painters. The entire exhibition elicits a standing ovation. The exceptional art of Philip Burke has been featured in over two hundred magazines such as Rolling Stone, Time, Newsweek, GQ and Vogue. This is a one-of-a-kind event that is surely not to be missed by anybody in Orange County who loves art or rock-n-roll!
This event will run from January 10 – April 12, 2009. They will also be having a Guitar Hero competition on April 4, 2009 at 2pm. Gift certificates will be given as prizes to the 18+ age group. To get your tickets or more information on this event, call 714.95.MUZEO or visit muzeo.org.

This is really cool. I love Bob Marley’s lips. Thanks for sharing this because I would have never known had you not posted this. I will have to check this out while it’s running.
